Straight Cold Bustin’: 2 Kickass Recipes to Battle an Incoming Cold

I wanted to share these quick juice and tea recipes to help battle an incoming cold. If you feel yourself starting to come down with something, start doing all you can to assist your immune system!

Citrus Cold Buster Juice:

  • 2 Grapefruits
  • 4 Small Oranges or Tangelos
  • 5 Lemons
  • 6 Medium Carrots

Peel the citrus fruits and set the peels to the side (for the tea). Makes about 10-12 oz. Drink 1-2 times a day. Try to drink in the morning and before bedtime.

Spicy Citrus Tea:

  • Grapefruit peels
  • Orange peels
  • Lemon peels
  • Ginger tea
  • Ground Cinnamon or bark
  • Licorice bark (optional)
  • Red Cayenne Pepper
  • Ground Turmeric
  • Honey (optional)

Take the peels from the juice recipe and put them in a pot of water. If you have cinnamon and licorice bark, add them to the pot of water first and then the peels. Add the ginger tea and let it simmer for about 30-60 minutes. (Be sure to check on the concoction from time to time; you may need to add more water if it’s evaporating). Strain the tea into a cup or mason jar. Add the ground turmeric, red cayenne pepper, and honey to the tea. It doesn’t taste that great, but hey, it’ll get the job done! Drink 2-3 times a day.
